Men and women live in a giant silo underground with various regulations that they believe are in place to protect them from the toxic, crumbling world above ground. Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what sci-fi is all about. Season 1 covers the first 30 chapters of the book “Wool”; the book has 82 chapters. The fans on the ground in several episodes spin in the wrong direction, as far as blade orientation.

Something has stood out from the beginning

Featured on WatchMojo: Top 10 TV Shows of 2023 You Should Binge-Watch (2023) I just started watching this show. The sound of the actors’ voices is crystal clear. Hats off to the sound people, this is a minor miracle. I so often have a hard time hearing what actors are saying in shows and movies.

Maybe it has something to do with the acoustics of a silo?

But I think not, I think it is due to some very good work by the film’s sound technicians who record and edit the actors’ voices. It is rare to hear the actors’ voices with such nice clarity. It is almost like hearing the actors’ voices in the theatre, it is that good. I am several episodes in and I am enjoying the acting and the story.

I really enjoyed it

There are good characters well portrayed and something is gradually unraveling regarding the history and operational details of the silo. I am not sure where all this is taking us yet, but it certainly keeps me interested. I have now completed the first season. There is a significant element of the ending that is identical to a revelation that happens in a film.

To avoid spoilers I will not say the name of the film, but I am sure others know what I am referring to if they have seen it

This didn’t affect my enjoyment of Silo, and in any case I’m not sure who came up with the idea first, as I don’t know when the book Silo is based on was written.

Okay, I love the show, yes, I can pick out the mistakes etc.

I only have 6 episodes left and I am waiting for the next one to be released, if the series continues as it is it will be a success regardless of Lashana

One of the biggest disappointments is Lashana who plays the female lead, she is a decent enough actress but the role just doesn’t suit her, apparently she is a weapons expert but she has to shoot over 200 shots at someone without ruining the plot and let’s say if she was a grasshopper we wouldn’t be talking about JFK’s fate today, there are many better people for this role but unfortunately the casting people made a mistake and we have to live with it.

My first review!

WatchMojo: Top 10 2023 TV Shows You Need to Binge (2023). I read Hughes’ trilogy years ago and enjoyed the books immensely. When I randomly scrolled through IMDB and found SILO, I was instantly intrigued. I can see some mixed opinions and I can relate to some of them, here’s my first review of the series. First, I love dystopian literature!

It’s not an adaptation in the sense that it follows the plot

The dystopian genre offers a unique psychological perspective on human nature in hypothetical situations. My love for the trilogy was solidified because Hughes was able to develop Orwellian ideas in a hypothetical that is relevant to the modern world. Depicting the development of the human psyche in dystopian situations is a challenging task. I think Hughes did a fantastic job, and SILO captures many of these elements in a refreshing way. It’s based on the books, but naturally viewers have to adjust to a fast-paced world.

The acting for the main characters is fantastic

Nevertheless, the series manages to capture the atmosphere of a society living in a silo. In contrast to the shallow storylines of other shows, “SILO” has a wonderful blend of character development and atmospheric focus. The only problem I have with the show is the lack of atmospheric development. They spend a lot of screen time chasing and capturing Juliet. They lack the atmospheric development of Silo as a society.

Give it a try!

Naturally it should appeal to the audience it receives.

Lynch is miscast

The show moves the setting to the present day.. Referenced in Graham Norton and guests: Denzel Washington/Paul Mescal/Saoirse Ronan/Eddie Redmayne/Blossoms (2024). TLDR: Redmayne gets it right.

Overall, the story is a viable adaptation

Unfortunately, the leads are not on par with each other, which detracts from an otherwise spectacular and high-quality production. No shade to Lynch, it’s just a high bar that Redmayne has set. A more experienced actor might have provided a more believable counterpart/opponent character needed to challenge the jackal.

The barometer of deceit is constantly on in the background

Some character development works, although some things are just left open in the main character narratives, but that could be desired. The locations, varied interactions, and Redmayne’s delivery of language and character shifts really add a special layer to the story arc. I can’t wait to see how Se01 ends and how the quality is maintained or improved in Se02.

If he does, Se02 could be quite promising

Hopefully Lynch will ease up on being less forced and give a more nuanced performance to try and match Redmayne.
